Class 8 — AI Investigator
Main goal: CODE WITH AI. Stop being only an AI user and start becoming a builder. Emphasis: AI + Critical Thinking. Learning outcomes — read and write basic Python (variables, conditions, loops, functions, lists and dictionaries); use AI to explain, debug and test code rather than copying it blindly; build and explain at least five small Python programs; apply structured problem-solving to break a task into steps before coding it. Skills learned: Python fundamentals, AI-assisted debugging, algorithmic thinking, code documentation.

M1 — Thinking Like a Programmer 2 hrs
- What an algorithm is: a set of steps, like a recipe
- Breaking a problem into smaller steps
- Writing pseudocode before writing real code
M2 — Python Basics: Variables and Data Types 3 hrs
- Variables and assignment
- Data types: integers, floats, strings, booleans
- Getting input and printing output
M3 — Making Decisions: Conditions 3 hrs
- if / elif / else statements
- Comparison and boolean logic (and, or, not)
- Combining conditions to handle multiple cases
M4 — Repeating Tasks: Loops 3 hrs
- for loops and while loops
- Loop conditions and avoiding infinite loops
- Using loops to repeat a question until the player wins
M5 — Organizing Code: Functions 3 hrs
- Defining and calling functions
- Parameters and return values
- Why breaking code into functions makes it easier to read and reuse
M6 — Storing Data: Lists and Dictionaries 4 hrs
- Lists: storing an ordered collection of items
- Dictionaries: storing key-value pairs
- Basic file reading and writing
M7 — AI-Assisted Coding and Debugging 4 hrs
- Using AI to explain what a piece of code does
- Using AI to help find and fix bugs
- Writing simple test cases to check your code works
- Using AI to write documentation (comments) for your code
- Using AI as a tutor, not a copy-paste machine
M8 — Full Build: Calculator and Quiz Program 4 hrs
- Combining variables, conditions, loops and functions into one complete program
- Handling invalid input without crashing
M9 — Full Build: Number Guessing Game and Text Adventure 4 hrs
- Using lists and dictionaries inside a complete program
- Designing branching choices for a text adventure
M10 — Capstone: Simple Chatbot 2 hrs
- Rule-based chatbot logic: matching keywords to responses
- Where AI-assisted coding fits into a student's own project
Capstone project
Activity: Pseudocode a daily task
Write pseudocode for a daily task (e.g. making tea, packing a school bag) as a numbered sequence of steps. Upload your pseudocode.
